A commercial vehicle coming from Watt Market, heading to 8 Miles has just exploded along Murtala Mohammed Highway by Diamond Junction at about 7pm.

An eyewitness, Patricia Illam, said the commercial vehicle (details not gotten) was gutted when the driver of the taxi dropped a passenger and the passenger noticed and alerted the driver about fire under the taxi. Everyone highlighted from the vehicle and took to their heels with their belongings as the driver tried opening the burnet but could not.

Another eyewitness from the scene, Blessing Jimmita, said all effort to quench the fire with fire extinguisher and sand proved abortive and was left to burn.

The cause could not be ascertained at press time.
