The National Assembly members in Cross River State have have accused the Governor, Benedict Ayade of funding the campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari despite being in the opposition.
The state has eleven National Assembly positions. 10 are occupied by Mr. Ayade’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The members in a statement issued on Wednesday, however stopped short of directly accusing the Governor of carrying out anti party activities.
Mr. Ayade has been at loggerheads with 9 out of the 10 PDP National Assembly members in the state over the control of the party.
Following a perceived upheaval of the party’s core by the Governor, a stalwart of the party in Osun state, Mr Oluwafemi Fani-Kayode had warned that attempts to frustrate Mr. Ayade will mean his exit from the PDP.
It would be a big mistake for the National Working Commitee of the PDP to take the party structures in his state away…

And, the National Assembly in Cross River, in their reply said Mr. Fani-Kayode’s occupation was “talking,” after inducements.
They told Mr. Fani-Kayode to ask Mr. Ayade “salient questions” instead of throwing “tantrums” at those who sustain the party while he sits idly.
Read the full statement below:
“The National Assembly members from Cross River State are astonished that Fani Kayode can get so ballistic on a matter, he knows nothing about.
“He throws tantrums at the people that have sustained the Party, while he is on sabbatical.
“We thought he was going to ask Governor Ayade certain salient questions before dabbling into the Cross River State matter.
“Did he ask Ayade why he contributed two billion naira (NGN2,000,0000.00), to the APC in the 2019 Elections?
“Did Fani Kayode ask him why he supported Hope Uzodinma in Imo State against EMEKA Ihedioha of PDP in the last Governorship Election in Imo State?
“Did he ask Ayade why he sent NGN5 million only, in December last year to the Party, as a Seating Governor after so much pressure?
“Did he ask Ayade if he could win Cross River State for PDP without the NASS Members?
“Did he ask Ayade if he had at least 50% of the structures OR not, bearing in mind that there are other stakeholders and we are in a Democracy?
“Finally, we think that Fani Kayode should brief us on the standing of the Party in his own State, if he is on ground. We know that the PDP is very weak in his State, so he should go and put his State together for the Party.
“Fani Kayode’s main Occupation at the moment is “talking “ but he should choose when and what to talk about, inspite of the inducements.
