Five members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in northern Cross River State have written the party’s screening committee for the senatorial and House of Assembly bye-elections seeking the disqualification of frontline aspirant, Dr. Stephen Odey.
They are Linus O. Ulakom, Michael I. Okpako, Pius U. Ogede, Williams Ogede, and Odey Okputu.
Mr. Odey is said to be the favorite of Governor Benedict Ayade who is currently at loggerheads with all but one member of the PDP National Assembly caucus from Cross River State.
The quintet in their letter addressed to the chairman of the committee, Hon. Taleb Tabite claim that Mr. Odey was sacked from his place of work and by virtue of Section 66 (1) (h) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and Section 14(d) of the Electoral Guidelines for Primary Elections and does not qualify to contest.
Mr. Odey had worked with the Joint Maritime Labor Industrial Council of Nigeria and recently denied an exclusive report by CrossRiverWatch that he was sacked for fraud.
