A group, ActiveCode Business Hub has promised to empower no fewer than 100,000 youths to cope with the effect of Covid-19 in the country.

Managing Director of the group, Dr. Theophilus Ogunbe disclosed this on Thursday during an interaction with Journalists in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

He said his organization has so far trained over 20,000 youths in the country in the last thirty six months, noting that with the effect of Covid-19, there was need to empower youths in order to prepare for the future.

Dr. Ogumbe said he was positive that if Nigeria in particular, and Africa in general can leverage on the potentials of foreign exchange market, block chain technology and ICT, they could win the war against extreme poverty and unemployment.

His words: “With the knowledge of foreign exchange market, digital media and marketing, a lot can be achieved in the reduction of poverty and unemployment.

“There is need for cyber space development by using block chain technology to secure digital future of Nations. There is need for government to look into existing block chain technology across the world, regulate and guide block chain Technology, forex trading and ICT to help business entities to be globally networked.

“It is high time government encourages as well as sensitizes the public to take advantages of the block chain technology as well as check the activities of fraudsters who use the forex and block chain Technology to defraud the society.

“The block chain and forex market in Nigeria is a growing market, mainly unexplored for the time being. Right now, we do understand that with the level of funding in the market, the level of unemployment can be drastically reduced,” he said.

He maintained that his group was willing to empower 100,000 youths between September and December this year “because the digital world was now the new crude oil.”

According to him, “Solving unemployment through FX market, Block chain and digital marketing will be mainly through the transfer of knowledge because you need to particularly understand that all these are skill based businesses. Trading in forex is not gambling and it has nothing to do with gambling.

“The bulk of our training is part of our own way to give back to the society and not to make profit, but by helping to curb unemployment and poverty which Nigeria has become it’s headquarter.

“Activecode experts have the experience and skill to teach the beginners to improve their financial blueprint with FX, block chain and digital skills, thereby turning time into money,” Ogumbe said

On his part , the Director, Branding and Marketing of the group, Kelvin Akparanta, said the foreign exchange market and digital marketing, along with ICT still remain largely unexplored in Nigeria, reiterating that it was “the new oil.”
