Cross River Governor, Benedict Ayade has directed “massive and comprehensive rehabilitation of roads” across the State says a press statement by his spokesman, Mr. Christian Ita.
The directive follows a special report by this Newspaper and at least two protests at Calabar Municipal and Yala Local Government Areas of the State last week.
“Ayade said the directive has become necessary now that the rain is gradually subsiding,” read the statement issued on Monday.
The Governor has given such directives at least thrice in the past five years. And, Mr. Ita’s statement said Mr. Ayade however, “emphasizes that the rehabilitation work must be carried out without compromising quality, despite the rains having not fully gone.”
The State’s works Ministry is expected “to come before the State Executive Council with a comprehensive list of all the roads across the three zones needing rehabilitation for approval,” the statement read.
