The Cross River State secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party in Calabar is currently being stripped of its flags while armed policemen are overseeing the action.

This comes barely 48 hours after Governor Ben Ayade defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress.

Th exercise began very early on Saturday morning.

The immediate past State Chairman of the party who has also been serving as caretaker committee Chairman, Ntufam Inok Edim is around and discussing with a couple of others about the building which according to him, is supposed to serve a different purpose.

Asides stripping the building of the PDP flags, painters had begun repainting it to green and white as at press time while the security operatives numbering about 50 who came in unmarked pickup trucks, blocked access from the Kia motor shop all the way to the secretariat which is located along the Murtala Muhammed Highway in Calabar.

It is unclear what is happening as the party is said to have owed years of rent to its landlord.

Passers-by have attributed it to the recent defection of the Governor.
