Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River has signed a revised budget for the 2021 fiscal year into law.
The sum is NGN41 billion less than what was approved for the fiscal year.
“Yes, the Governor just signed the 2021 amended budget of NGN240.404 billion into law,” Otu Ita, the Special Adviser Budget told this reporter on phone.
It is unclear when the Governor presented the supplementary budget to the House of Assembly.
But, sources at the Assembly say the lawmakers passed it into law earlier this week with the Governor assenting to it earlier today.
Mr. Ayade had drawn mixed reactions from the public when he presented NGN277 billion as the spending estimates for 2021 tagged “blush and bliss.” It was the first budget in four years that the public tagged, “realistic.”
The House deliberated on it without fanfare and it was passed on the last day of 2020 and assented to without the usual pomp. The assented budget was NGN281 billion.
