A one-time Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Donald Duke has asked former Nigeria’s Vice President, Atiku Abubakar to abandon his presidential ambition.
Mr. Abubakar who was the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections had declared his intention to contest again for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2023 polls.
But, Duke, who also contested for president in 2019, while visiting Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State with his counterpart from Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, a presidential aspirant, told the gathering that it was time for Mr. Atiku to give up on his ambition which he started in 1992.
Mr. Duke said the country was facing an existential threat, hence his choice of supporting Mr. Wike, and spoke at length, about the challenges the country is currently undergoing.
