The Cross River State command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the rescue of a student of the Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo Local Government Area, who was abducted on Tuesday night.
The command’s spokesperson DSP Irene Ugbo told Vanguard Newspaper that she was rescued at about 11:00 PM on Thursday night, about 48 hours after her abduction.
“A crack team of officers combed the creeks of Akpabuyo and rescued the victim at about 11:00 PM on Thursday,” the SP Ugbo said, adding that the operation, which led to the arrest of one suspect and the neutralization of others, was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan.
The student, whose name was given as Josephine, is currently receiving treatment while the founder, Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong has commended the police for her rescue.
The management of the institution, which is located less than 20 kilometers from Calabar, the State capital, had shut down the School on Wednesday despite initially scheduling closure for today.
