The National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW football club has won the ninth edition of the Odey Adamade Unity Football Competition in Obudu.
The union club won Okworogung football club one nil at the finals held at the UTI J. A Agba stadium on Friday, and took home the grand prize of NGN500 thousand.
Okworogung FC took home NGN300 thousand.
Meanwhile, Academy FC pipped Okiro Green Tigers 3-0 for the third place position, to ferry home the NGN200 thousand prize.
32 football teams across the ten wards of Obudu Local Government Area including two teams from Obanliku Local Government Area, Hills FC and Adidas FC registered for the competition, David Undeshi, the head of the competition told CrossRiverWatch.
He said the 10th edition will be, “bigger, better and bolder.”
The tournament is aimed at reducing youth restiveness during the new yam festival as well as providing a platform for showcasing football talents.
The Clan head of Atiekpe, Chief Clement Ugbong and the Director General of the Cross River Border Development Agency, Mr. Noel Ugbong presented the prizes to the winners.
