The serene Ukalibe’s compound in Ukwel-Obudu village of Obudu Local Government Area came alive on Friday and Saturday as the funeral rites of Mama Mary Andokie Ikwen (nee Ushie) the grandmother of CrossRiverWatch publisher, Agba Jalingo were carried out.

Fondly referred to as “Ama Bebuatsuan,” her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren from far and near journeyed to partake in the rites which became a celebration.

A native of the Begiaba community, she was first married in Ukwel-Obudu and later at Bebuatsuan.

She died on September 24, 2022, aged 121.
