A hit-and-run driver with ride-hailing application, Bolt has knocked and left a man critically injured on Sunday afternoon in Calabar.
The incident occurred along Murtala Mohammed highway by WAPI junction, the same spot China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (CNHTC) Sinotruck Howo STW10 haulage vehicle crushed to death, a woman sergeant in the Nigerian Police Force on December 22, 2021.
The Bolt driver with Toyota Corolla and plate number: Lagos, GGE-603HP was said to have been at speed when he knocked down the mid-age pedestrian who tried to cross the highway, leaving him with blood gushing out from his mouth and broken legs.
He quickly parked the vehicle wrongly and escaped leaving his passenger; a dark complexion, an average-height woman traumatized inside the car.
This is coming ten days after men of the Nigerian Army assaulted a Police Traffic Warden at MCC by Mobil junction; a few meters from the recent scene.
At the time of filing this report, the victim was rushed to an unknown hospital by some good Samaritans while the patrol team of the State Housing Division of the Nigerian Police Force arrived at the scene and were making efforts to track the suspect as well as towing the Bolt ride.
