The All Progressive Congress (APC), Cross River State chapter will tomorrow Saturday 17, 2022 conduct the central senatorial district rerun primary election.
Justice Fadimatu Aminu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, last week declared the APC’s senatorial primary which produced the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Eteng Jonah Williams as null and void.
Justice Aminu, in a suit brought by one of the aspirants, Barr. Mary Ekpere-Eta ordered a rerun within fourteen days. The court dismissed the 14 preliminary objections raised by the defendants and held that the primary election was not monitored by INEC.
In a press release made available by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Erasmus Ekpang said the party State chapter has notified the National Secretariat of the need to conduct a rerun as ordered by the court and the National Working Committee has fixed Saturday 17 December 2022 for the re-run at the Ikom stadium by 10: am.
Ekpang noted that the Appeals Committee will sit on Sunday 18 December 2022 at the State Party Secretariat, 42 Murtala Mohammed Highway, Calabar while calling on the concerned aspirants and stakeholders in the aforementioned senatorial district to take note.
