As the festive season rolls, the Cross River State Command of the Nigerian Police force has enjoined all citizens residing in the State to go about their lawful duties without fear of molestation of any kind.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, Sule Balarabe in a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, said the police boss has directed consistent surveillance patrol and visibility policing across the State to forestall any breach of peace and hitch-free activities before, during and after the festive season.
CP Balarabe warned that “the Police Command will not fold its hands and watch any group of individuals under whatever guise to obstruct or cause a breakdown of law and order.”
The release reads: “The Cross River State Police Command under the watch of CP Sule Balarabe, FIPSS wishes to felicitate with the good people of Cross River on the Christmas/New year celebrations.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed consistent surveillance patrol and visibility policing across the State to forestall any breach of peace and hitch-free activities before, during, and after the festive season. The CP enjoins all citizens residing in the state to go about their lawful duties without fear of molestation of any kind.
“Meanwhile, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders are directed to ensure the safety and security of members of the public across the State, especially lkom/Calabar Highway.
“In the same vein, the Police Command will not fold its hands and watch any group of individuals under whatever guise to obstruct or cause a breakdown of law and order.
“Furthermore, the CP calls on residents to continue to support the police and other sister security agencies in the provision of genuine and actionable intelligence around Uyanga Community and its environs to enable the police to smoke out all the local criminal elements perpetuating evil in our dear State. He stated that strategic eight (8) checkpoints are in place to monitor the current situation in the area.
