Final-year students of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) have protested and disrupted ongoing examinations in some departments over their inability to register.
The incident occurred on January 9th, 2023. The angry students alleged that they are unable to register for their exams through the school portal.
Chanting solidarity songs, they demand the university take responsibility and allow them to register so they can write their exams.
In their numbers, they moved into some of the examination halls tearing and chasing other students out, claiming the school management gave them false information regarding the registration process, and as a result, they are not able to sign up for the exams portal.
Some alleged that they have paid their fees and their names are not on the list of those qualified to write exams.
At the time of filing this report, there has not been an official statement from the school management.
