The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams has emerged as the winner of Saturday’s Senatorial election to represent the central district in the tenth National Assembly.

Eteng, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, polled 57,344 votes to beat his closest rival and former federal lawmaker, Honorable Bassey Eko Ewa of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

He was declared winner by the Returning Officer for the election, Dr. Okeme Isaac, an associate Professor of Agricultural Education at the University of Calabar having fulfilled the requirements for such.

Mr. Ewa, who is said to have tutored Mr. Eteng the art of politicking, polled 53,453 votes across the six Local Government Areas of the district in what was a tense affair.
