Mrs. Elizabeth Alami Ayade, wife of Mr. Frank Ayade, the younger brother to Cross River Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has filed a suit against CrossRiverWatch publisher, Citizen Agba Jalingo for alleged defamation of character, Court documents show.

Court documents served by substituted means at the gate of Hit 95.9 FM Calabar where Citizen Jalingo is not a staff of, show that Mrs. Alami approached the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in September 2022, via a Writ of Summons.

The Summons were dated September 30, 2022, with suit number, FCT/HC/CV/3303/2022, and never served on Citizen Jalingo or the other three defendants listed therein.

However, Court documents also show that her Counsel, Uyi Obayagbona Esq approached the Court for an Ex Parte order praying for an order of substituted service of the processes which were dumped at the gate of Hit FM Calabar.

As of press time, it remains unclear the orders made by Justice Abubakar Baba Shani who presides over Court 29 in Apo, Abuja, when the motion was raised before him.

Mrs. Alami had written Citizen Jalingo, seeking the retraction of a post on Facebook regarding the arrest of a suspended staff of the University of Calabar, Paschal Aboh Esq. who was arrested alongside one Idoko Odeh for impersonating a Student of the Bwari campus of the Nigerian Law School.

She demanded an apology as well as NGN 500 million in compensation and threatened legal action if not answered within fourteen days.

However, less than five days after being served with the letter of demand, she petitioned the Nigerian Police Force who arrested Citizen Jalingo in a gestapo styled operation after holding his wife and daughter hostage for hours at his Lagos residence and taken to Abuja after being detained overnight in Lagos.

Afterward, a criminal suit bordering on cybercrime and cyberstalking was preferred against Mr. Jalingo for causing “insult” and “Ill will” against Mrs. Alami. He is due to be arraigned on March 27, 2023.
