Inclusive Forum for Accountable Society Holds Quarterly Meeting In Calabar

By Ogar Monday

The Cross River State Chapter of the Inclusive Forum for Accountable Society, IFAS, has held its quarterly meeting in Calabar.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chapter President, Josephat Ogar said IFAS is a community-led initiative aimed at empowering citizens to participate in governance.

Josephat held that there is a need for every citizen to know what the government is doing and how that decision will impact them and that IFAS aims to bridge the gap between the two.

On her part, Joy Adebayo the Secretary of IFAS said the meeting was to inform members of the progress made so far and to remind them of the work ahead.

Mrs. Joy added that IFAS is still continuing with advocacy and intervention in the health center at Abredang, Biase Local Government Area, and is looking to engage the government on the out-of-school children in the state.

Other members who spoke highlighted the need to engage with the incoming government of Senator Bassey Otu and help it in agenda-setting to avoid some of the mistakes made by the current government.
