A young Police Officer identified as Sergeant Denis Mofam has been reportedly found lifeless in a bush in Camp 3, Mfamosing Community, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, after missing for days.
Sergeant Denis was reportedly declared missing on Sunday 7th May 2023 by his colleagues and family after he could not return home from work but a thorough search and investigation show he was killed at Camp 3, Mfamosing while returning from work on Sunday and his body found Thursday, May 11.
He was serving at the Quarfall Police post under the Akamkpa Division.
Sources told CrossRiverWatch that preliminary investigation has shown that he was given several machete cuts on his neck and body while his motorcycle was seen burnt to ashes.
He hails from Ekjajuk in Ogoja LGA of the State, Married, has three children and said to be the breadwinner of the family before his demise.
A colleague of his who pleads anonymity expressed sadness over the brutal killing.
“It is sad that our intakes are dying every day but God Almighty will help us. May his soul rest in peace, Amen,” the source prayed.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, the telephone line of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Cross River State Command, SP Irene Ugbo can not be reached for comments as her phone was switched off for hours.
