Citizen Agba Jalingo, the Editor-in-Chief of CrossRiverWatch will on Tuesday 25th July, 2023 speak in the West African Journalism Innovation Conference, (WAJIC).
The inaugural conference which is geared towards amplifying the issues of press freedom violations among others will be held in Abuja Continental Hotel, Nigeria, organized by the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID).
The WAJIC is an annual conference that brings together journalists, media professionals, researchers, and stakeholders in the media industry to discuss and explore innovative solutions to the challenges facing the media in West Africa.
This year’s conference is on the theme: ‘Accountability journalism: nurturing innovation for a sustainable future’ and aims to explore innovative approaches and strategies for promoting accountability, transparency, and sustainability in the media industry in West Africa.
“I bring you warm greetings from the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development and, with great pleasure, invite you as a special guest to the Centre’s inaugural West African Journalism Innovation Conference (WAJIC 23),” said Dr. Tobi Oluwatola, Executive Director of the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development.
He added: “Through this exhibition, we aim to amplify the issues of press freedom violations and give a creative voice to the plight of journalists in West Africa. Additionally, the exhibition will feature an ‘art contest and auction’ as a fundraising initiative to provide psychosocial support for journalists and their families.”
The event will have Richard Gingras, Vice President of Google News as the Keynote Speaker.
