The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has unveiled its new statue in Calabar’s main campus, signifying academic accomplishments.
The previous statue constructed with stones was a book-like structure having a round object like a ball with tiny transparent holes that was already becoming an eye-saw – wear and tear.
The remodeled statue painted gold has a symbol of a folded right hand holding a scroll, depicting accomplishment, recognition, dedication, and success in academic pursuits.
Commissioning the remodeled statue on Monday, July 2023 at Ekpo Abasi Roundabout, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Augustine Angba said it is necessary to give the statue a new look owing to the strings the institution is pulling in the academic world of recent.
The VC also lauded the State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu for making the State-owned varsity a priority.
He further appreciated the effort of the Department of Visual Art led by its Head of Department Mrs. Emekpe Omon for the beautiful work of art.
Witnessing the commissioning were the Deans of faculties, Directors, Head of Departments, students, and the University community.
