The Obubra Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has accused top members of the Cross River State Executive Council, serving in Governor Bassey Otu’s Government, of “intrusion” and alleged “external influence on Obura issues”.
The party made the allegations known in an 8-point communique issued after an enlarged party exco meeting, held at Mile One, Obubra Local Government Area, and made available to CrossRiverWatch.
According to the communique signed by Deac. Dennis Egor, Chapter Chairman/Caucus Leader; Joseph Eyaba, Chapter Secretary and several other exco members said: “The party frowns at the continuous external influence and intrusion on the matters that concern Obubra.”
The caucus further stated: “The persons behind the nefarious acts or activities are the following: The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Owan Enoh, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Ironbar, Commissioner for Lands, Chief Francis Ekpenyong (Orator), Prince Ntui Ogar (Ahmed), and High Chief Higgins Peters.”
Also, the party added “categorically clear, that there is no leadership tussle and that the party is strongly united under the able leadership of the Chapter Chairman/Caucus Leader Deacon Dennis Egor,” maintaining that, “The list of those who make up the caucus is clearly spelled out in article 12.15 of APC constitution.”
The communique reads: “The party congratulates His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, Governor of Cross River State on the steps taken so far as he pilots the affairs of the State through institutional governance. We are pleased with all the measures His Excellency has put in place to tackle security challenges in our State in the comity of States in the federation.
“The party further congratulates His Excellency for constituting his cabinet in record time. We noticed with glee that His Excellency hearkened to our supplications and graciously approved two commissioners for Obubra.
“The party is indeed grateful to you for matching your words with actions and equally appealing for more strategic appointments and location of vital developmental projects in Obubra in line with your People First Mantra.
“The party wishes to thank the leadership and the entire APC family in Obubra for the show of strength and unity before, during, and after the last general elections where we recorded a landslide victory.
“Henceforth, the party wishes to warn that any member (s) found trying to cause division or faction in the party will be sanctioned in accordance with article 12.5 of our party constitution. Conclusively, the party wishes to affirm her loyalty and commitment to the leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, and the entire leadership of APC in Cross River State,” the communique reads.
