Governor Otu Appoints 10 Into Audit Commission, Acting Surveyor-General

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu has made appointments into the office of the Audit Commission as well as appointed Acting Surveyor-General of the State.

This was contained in a press release signed by Emmanuel Ogbeche, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor dated October 15th, 2023 with reference number GO/PRESS/012/VOL.II/257.

“The Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the composition of the Cross River State Audit Service Commission pursuant to the Cross River State Audit Law 2021, Part V Section 82 Subsection 1-5,” it read.

The release noted: “The Commission has Mr. Chris Etim Nyong as Chairman and Sir Charley Joseph Arako serves as Deputy Chairman.

“Also Mr. Bartholomew Amake, Mr. Bassey Ekanem, Barrister Ikona Ikoi, Mr. Emmanuel Bassey Effiom, Mr. Emmanuel Amama Iyango, and Mr. Bassey A. Eko as members.

“Additionally, the Auditor-General for the State and the Auditor-General for Local Government serve as Ex-officio members.

“Otu also approved the appointment of Surveyor Patrick Edet Bassey as Acting Surveyor-General of the State for a probationary period of six months, subject to confirmation.

He noted that all appointments are with effect from October 3, 2023. The backdating of appointments is becoming a norm in recent Cross River State appointments.
