By Sylvia Akpan, Government House Correspondent

The Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu has assured the people of Cross River Northern Senatorial District that his administration would strike a balance in the coming appointments to give the people a sense of belonging and a stake in the governance of the State.

He made this assertion today, 9th October, 2023, while playing host to the Cross River Northern APC Elders Advisory Council in Calabar, and noted that appointments under his watch are strategically done to arrive at a political equilibrium.

He lauded the people for their support of his administration, maintaining that the North cannot be ignored in the political equation of Cross River State.

Furthermore, he restated his administration’s commitment to completing the Obudu Cargo Airport started by his predecessor, Prof. Ben Ayade, as well as returning the Ranch Resort to its pride of place as Nigeria’s tourist haven and promised to build a Governor’s Lodge in Ogoja to enable effective state government representation in the Northern Senatorial District, given the State’s peculiar geography.

Out reveled in the quality of appointees the North has blessed his administration with, noting that his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, whom he described as a worthy support base, is leading a legion of competent allies who are adding impetus to the ‘Peoples First’ agenda of bringing governance to the ordinary citizens of the state, reassuring that “we are definitely going somewhere.”

The Chairman of the North APC Elders Advisory Council, Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, said the visit was in solidarity with the governor on his victory at the tribunal, pledging their unwavering support.
