The Government of Nigeria and her Turkish counterparts have tightened bilateral relationships in the area of sports development.
The ties was disclosed on Thursday, January 25, 2024, when the Minister for Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh received the Turkish Ambassador, Hidayet Bayraktar, and the Deputy Head of Mission Imdat Karakoc at his office in Abuja to expand frontiers through sports.
Senator Owan Enoh disclosed that he was also invited to attend the 6th Ethno Sports Forum slated to take place in Turkey next month.
The Sports Minister was elated after knowing the Ambassador encouraged Nigerian athletes to explore ethno-sports.
He seized the opportunity to explain the ‘can do spirit‘ of the Nigerian athletes with a clear example of the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, South Korea where Nigerian athletes were a focal point for being the first African country to qualify and participate, which is a huge stride.
Owan assured the Ambassador that Nigerian sportsmen and women can take on any sports they choose to which is a pointer that Nigeria’s got talent.
