2023 AFCON: You Have Given Us Cause To Rejoice, Your Due Is Covered – FG

The Federal Government of Nigeria has applauded the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their qualification into the semi-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations going on in Côte d’Ivoire.

Ademola Lookman’s goal in the first half was enough to help Nigeria overcome Angola and reach the semi-finals of the competition; the Eagles 15th time in their past 18 appearances.

Expressing joy in the Super Eagles display and victory, the Federal Government through the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan-Enoh’s post on X (former Twitter), said “You have given us cause to rejoice and have very proud Nigerian moments”.

He urged the three times African champions to push ahead and win the coveted trophy as they “are a galaxy of stars who embody the hopes and aspirations of millions of Nigerians back home.”

“My dear Nigeria Super Eagles, today (yesterday) I watched you soar. I saw in your game the determination and zest to conquer the continent again.

“There is indeed great jubilation back home, we jubilate as compatriots who believe absolutely in the “can do“ Nigerian spirit.

“As our President, H.E Bola Tinubu GCFR said to you this morning via our Zoom call, he is immensely proud of you, and so are the rest of us. You have given us cause to rejoice and have very proud Nigerian moments. Keep conquering your opponents. Your due is covered.

Nigeria will now face the winner of Saturday’s quarter-final between Cape Verde and South Africa in the last four next Wednesday by 20:00 GMT.
