The Nigerian Police Force, Cross River State Command, has felicitated with the Muslim faithful on the 2024 Eid-El Fitr Celebration, saying it will be hitch-free and in a secure atmosphere.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogon Grimah gave the assurance in a press release signed and issued in Calabar by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer SP Irene Ugbo.
CP Grimah said the Command has strategized and deployed adequate human and material resources to beef up security across the State before, during, and after the celebration period.
He warned criminal elements and men of the underworld that may seize the period to commit crime, to desist, as the Command will not fold its arms and watch.
The Police Boss directed the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Commanders and Special Squads; Surveillance and patrol teams to embark on continuous and massive raids of identified black spots in their areas of responsibility and such raids must be purposeful and credible.
It reads: “In preparation for the hitch-free Eid-El Fitr Celebration, the Cross River State Police Command has strategized and deployed adequate human and material resources with a view to beefing up security across the State before, during, and after the celebration period.
“The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, psc, FCAI, further stated that the Operational Order prepared for the Eid el Fitr has put measures in place to manage the movement of persons/motorists across the state especially to monitor the traffic and keep hoodlums/criminal elements in check.
“In furtherance of the Command’s fight against crimes and criminality in the State, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, psc, FCAI, directed the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOS), Tactical Commanders, and Special Squads, Surveillance, and patrol teams to embark on continuous and massive raid of identified black spots in their areas of responsibility. Such raids must be purposeful and credible so as to be in tune with the standard Operating procedure of the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Commissioner while admonished the Muslim faithful and Cross Riverians to celebrate Eid-el Fitr with restraint and decorum. He assured the general public of improved service delivery. The Commissioner Of Police calls on good-spirited citizens with useful genuine information to remain focused on supporting the Police and other sister agencies in their efforts to ensure peaceful coexistence in the State and the Nation as a whole. The Police Command will not fold its hands and watch any group of persons or individuals under whatever guise to obstruct or cause a breakdown of law and order.
