The Governor of Cross River State Sen. Bassey Otu has felicitated with Muslim faithful on this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
He extended his congratulations to the Muslim community and encouraged them to reflect upon the practice of the fundamental principles and teachings of Ramadan while appreciating them for the successful completion of their fasting.
Otu gave the felicitation in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Gill Nsa on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Also, he charged all citizens across different religious beliefs to demonstrate peaceful coexistence at all times.
He emphasizes that observing Ramadan is an essential aspect of Islam worldwide as it teaches abstinence from worldly pleasures and strengthens one’s faith through prayer and piety according to Quranic injunctions.
The Cross River State’s number one citizen acknowledges Muslims’ love, selflessness, and sacrifices throughout the holy month while urging them to continue doing good deeds beyond its conclusion. As they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr alongside other religious denominations in Cross River State, he calls for continued prayers for peace and harmony within Nigeria amidst current economic challenges.
Governor Otu further expressed gratitude to those who support his people-first agenda aimed at restoring lost glory to society’s poor and vulnerable via government policies and programs.
He added that his administration has within the last 8 months embarked on rehabilitation and construction of roads and repairs of other critical State infrastructures; enhanced security and introduced measures to improve agriculture, education, health, and other sectors of the economy and pledged to do more for the good of the State and country.
