Less than 24 hours, two separate fires have razed down a market in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State, leaving goods and properties worth millions of Naira destroyed.
The Ikom inferno started at about 9:pm when daily activities in the market had closed.
Just a moment ago another fire gutted the Calabar branch of Stanbic IBTC Bank along the Marian Road; a few kilometers from the State Fire and Rescue Service headquarters.

Eyewitnesses on due outbreaks are fumed as there was no sight of men of Cross River State Rescue and Fire Service (CRS-RFS) who always quick to tie their no functionality to no water, fuel or faulty equipment.

The traders at Lagos Line in Ikom Main Market are still counting their losses following a recent Tanker explosion along the Calabar-Ikom Road.
Meanwhile, a staff member of the Stanbic IBTC bank who put out the fire before the fire service arrived and sustained minor injuries, has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
