The Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Health will commence the first round of Optimize Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week (OMNCHW 1) across the 18 Local Government Areas.
In a letter of notification signed by the Director-General of CRSPHCDA, Dr. Vivien Mesembe Otu, said the exercise is billed for Thursday June 13 to Monday 17, 2024.
The DG said children 0-59 months are the target age and pregnant women as health workers will be in all health facilities, churches, mosques, recreational centers, markets, schools and other designated posts to give interventions such as vitamin A supplement, deworming tablets and routine immunization.
Birth registration, screening for malnutrition, iron and desolate tablets to pregnant women; family planning services, HIV counseling and testing among others services will be offered during the exercise.
Parents and caregivers are advised to bring their kids and wards as “members of the general public are to note that the exercise is free, safe and effective for all children and pregnant women.
