The Cross River State Government is urging more investments and the establishment of new businesses, assuring a welcoming environment with minimal taxes and levies for students, entrepreneurs, and young business owners.

At the recent Canaan Business School Jet Cohort graduation ceremony in Calabar on June 2, 2024, Comrade Enyam Joseph-Kelvin, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, made this appeal.

He emphasized the government’s efforts to create opportunities for small businesses and streamline the process of establishing them, making it easier for everyone, including student entrepreneurs, to operate in Cross River State.

“You do not have to go through the tedious processes anymore or encounter those incumbrances before setting up your business. The Government has made a review of the policies, taxing and all, of course you can do businesses now in Cross River with ease. So be free to open up your businesses in the State.”

He highlighted that the state government has secured several opportunities for Cross Riverians, creating a favorable environment for business growth.

Enyam praised the graduating students for their determination to succeed in the business sector and encouraged them to apply their new skills practically.

Mr. John Collins Idim, the Chancellor of Canaan Business School, expressed gratitude to the Cross River State Government, the faculty, and supporters for their dedication, which has nurtured a community of learners in the business arena.

He emphasized the school’s mission to inspire young leaders in various sectors, particularly business, and assured the government of maintaining high standards. He congratulated the students for their commitment and conduct throughout their studies.

The graduating students expressed their sincere thanks to God and Canaan Business School for the enriching experience, which has expanded their prospects in their respective fields.

As a gesture of appreciation, one of the graduates offered a 50% discount on the purchase of a Moniepoint Point of Sale (POS) device for business owners.
