I am compelled to respond to the vitriolic post circulating on social media, penned by an individual who ought to know better. The author’s diatribe against a Senator, reeking of bitterness and desperation, is a stark departure from the objectivity and professionalism they claim to uphold.
Their supposed “objective review” is nothing but a thinly veiled attempt to garner attention and validation. The fact that they invested personal resources in promoting Senators’ achievements via Facebook ads and Newspaper publications raises questions about their true motives.
Moreover, the three Senators from Cross River State, belong to different committees in the Senate, each with unique responsibilities and values that cannot be equated or objectively assessed individually. Some committees inherently carry more weight and influence than others, making individual comparisons unfair and biased.
Notably, the Senator in question belongs to an opposition political party, unlike the party in control of the Senate. This context suggests that the Senator may not have received equal opportunities or resources, rendering the review even more biased and politically motivated. The author’s team, belonging to a different political party, further underscores the suspect nature of their assessment.
In absolute fairness to the other two Senators, being first-term Senators in the hallowed chambers of the Senate of the Federal Republic, how can one reasonably compare them with a ranking Senator who has a long list of achievements to his credit?
The Senator’s wealth of experience, leadership prowess, and legislative accomplishments should rather be a legislative asset to the others. And given that the newcomers to the Senate may not have even followed through with proper budgeting procedures, where they can claim projects solely to their names, it becomes even more challenging to make a fair comparison.
The author’s Facebook post, alleging the Senator blocked their mobile number due to their review, is petty, distasteful, and infantile. It exposes their true intentions: to attract public attention and discredit a dedicated public servant.
I implore them to embrace constructive criticism and strive for genuine objectivity, rather than indulging in petty squabbles and politically driven attacks. Let us elevate our discourse and foster a culture of respect, even in disagreement.
It’s important to promote fact-based discourse and objectivity, especially in the public sphere. Young men and women in desperate quest to seek public relevance should always be properly guided
