The Cross River State House of Assembly has confirmed the Chairman and members of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) as well as the Cross River State Internal Revenue Service (CRIRS), respectively.
They were confirmed on Tuesday August 20, 2024, during plenary at the Assembly Chambers following a request from the state government in a letter to the House of Assembly signed by the Secretary of the State Government, Prof Anthony Owan Enoh.
The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, admonished the chairman and new members of the Commission and Revenue Service to maintain equity, be firm and fair to everyone, and avoid partisanship.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to Speaker Ayambem, Mathew Okache, the members of CROSIEC confirmed by the Assembly include Mr. Ekong Edet Bocco as Chairman; Dr. Lawrence Edu, Esq, as Secretary; Mr. Jerry Akabisong, Mrs. Rose Banku, Mr. Adoga Joseph Ipuole, Eutendala Eno, Barrister Daniel Edet, and Dr. Eyo Otu Eyo, as members.
Those confirmed as members of CRIRS include Prince Edwin Okon as Chairman; Elder Ndoma Odey, Barrister Nta Ekpikem, and Mr. Francis Peters as members.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State has kicked against the nomination and confirmation of CROSIEC Chairman and members, as well as members of the Internal Revenue Service.
