The Government of Cross River State has flagged off its Flood Preparedness Awareness Campaign in Ogoja Local Government Area of the State.

At the flag off, Governor Otu emphasized the importance of preparedness and vigilance in the face of impending floods as predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

Governor Bassey Otu, represented by the Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Rev. James Okon Anam, said the campaign aims at sensitizing residents in the region on flood prevention and response measures, and as a proactive step to mitigate the impact of flooding in the region.

Rev. Anam urged residents to take necessary precautions, including clearing drainage channels, avoiding building in flood-prone areas, and staying informed about weather updates.

The campaign is said to cover various communities in the Northern Senatorial District, with officials from SEMA and other stakeholders set to engage with residents, share critical information, and provide support.

The government added that the proactive initiative demonstrates its commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of its citizens, particularly in the face of natural disasters.
