The Management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has scrapped out this year’s Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) admission screening exercise due to logistics, insecurity and sundry reasons.
Management in a circular signed and made available by the Registrar Gabriel Egbe, said the exercise earlier scheduled to commence from Monday, August 26, 2024, will no longer hold as scheduled.
He said Management of the University, having taken into consideration factors such as high cost of transportation occasioned by fuel scarcity in the country, accommodation, logistics and the security situation in the country, has resolved to cancel the 2024/2025 Post-UTME screening exercise.
Candidates who chose the UNICAL as first choice institution and have registered online for the 2024 Post-UTME screening exercise, are advised to visit the nearest JAMB-CBT center to upload their O’level results.
The school said all candidates will be scored based on their O’level grades, using the point tally system for the purpose of 2024/2025 admissions.
“To this end, the University hereby gives one week extension for Post-UTME registration on its portal. Candidates who are yet to register are advised to use this window of opportunity to do so, on or before Saturday, August 31, 2024.”
“Please note that there will be no further extension of date for registration after the deadline as the portal would be closed finally on the 31st August, 2024.
“We regret any inconvenience this change in arrangement might have caused our dear applicants,” part of the circular read.
