Cross River Government Appoints 13 Into CRSHIA Governing Board

To strengthen the healthcare system in Cross River State, Governor Bassey Otu has appointed a 13-member Governing Board for the Cross River State Health Insurance Agency (CRSHIA).

In a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gill Nsa, Governor Otu said the appointment is in line with Law Number 10 of 2016, which established CRSHIA.

He said the Governing Board is to serve on a part-time according to part 11 of the established law. The inauguration will be announced on a yet-to-be-confirmed date.

 Those appointed include:

1. Pastor Dr. Mrs. Comfort Ekanem – Chairman

2. A Director Representative of the Ministry of Health – Member

3. Representative of the Office of the Head of Service – Member

4. Representative of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (State Planning Commission) – Member

5. Mr. Bassey Ita, representing Nigeria Employer ConsultativeAssociation – Member

6. Mr. Gregory Olayi, Representing the OrganizedLabour – Member

7. Mr Stanley Efa, Representing NHIS – Member

8. Representative of the State Primary Health Care DevelopmentAgency- Member

9. Chief Godwin Lyala, Director General CRSHIA – Member

10. Dr Samuel Izama Ugar, Representing Public Interest- Member

11. Pastor Orok Bassey Okon, Representing Public Interest – Member

12. Mr Ben Arikpo, Representing CS0- Member

13. Mrs Comfort Victor Ikpeme, Representing CSO – Member.

The development is expected to boost the state’s healthcare sector, following the perceived success of the Cross River State Health Insurance Scheme (CRSHIS), also known as AyadeCare. The scheme aims to provide universal health coverage to all residents of Cross River State.
