Governor Otu Inspects State Library, Governor’s Office And Other Projects In Calabar

The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu has expressed satisfaction with the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nsa Gill, confirmed that the Governor made the remarks during an inspection tour of projects, which include the remodeling of the Governor’s office complex, the state library, the Local Government Service Commission office building and the Governor’s Lodge.

Governor Otu who seemed impressed with the design and ambiance of the Local Government Service Commission office building that was abandoned over a decade. He emphasized the importance of creating a modern and functional workspace for civil servants, stating that it would empower workers to better serve the public and cultivate efficiency.

“An adequately equipped Secretariat will empower our workers to better serve the public and cultivate efficiency, thereby heightening governance productivity.”

He also inspected the reconstruction progress at the State Library that is currently wearing new look to a modern hub for literacy and continuous learning.

According to the government, the revamped library will feature updated amenities, including reading areas, computer facilities, e-learning resources, and communal spaces for educational initiatives and exhibitions.

Otu posited that: “Investing in our libraries equates to investing in our future. We must equip our citizens with the tools necessary to thrive in an increasingly competitive world.”

Similarly, the governor inspected renovation work at Governor’s Office, Calabar and reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to standards and quality across all developmental projects.

A newly asphalted road in Harcourt Street, Calabar South, was inspected where he lauded the progress.

“Aligned with our fundamental mandate to restore all state assets for their intended use, I am here to oversee the progress of work. Having toured the area, the quality and standards are exceptional,” he affirmed.

The Special Adviser on Project Monitoring, Mr. Raphael Adoga, lauded the governor for his commitment to transforming the state. “I wish to commend the governor for his dedication to delivering effective governance to the state. Presently, the governor has sanctioned over 181 projects, a majority of which are either in progress or finalized.”
