Staff of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), are currently smiling as the Chief Medical Director, Professor Ikpeme A. Ikpeme, extends a hand of fellowship to hospital staff with the distribution of bags of rice as an appreciation for their dedication and contributions throughout the year 2024
The event which held at the Granite Floor of the hospital premises, was marked by an atmosphere of gratitude and excitement as staff members from various departments gathered to receive their gifts.
Prof. Ikpeme, to fostering unity and excellence within the UCTH community expressed profound appreciation for the hard work, resilience, and teamwork exhibited by the staff in navigating the challenges and achievements of 2024.
The gesture according to the Director of Administration, Dr. (Mrs. Maureen Bassey, who represented the CMD, said he is humbled with a “thank you” to the hospital staff. Prof. Ikpeme said the efforts is to move the institution forward despite the hurdles.
“He has encouraged you to continue to work together in the spirit of progress and excellence as we close this year and step into a new one.”
The staff members and heads of departments lauded his leadership and symbolic act of sharing especially in the country’s current economic meltdown.
Beneficiaries described the gesture as the CMD’s reflection of his inclusive and empathetic style of administration, which has significantly boosted morale and fostered a sense of belonging among the hospital workforce.
“This gift is not just about the rice; it’s about the recognition of our efforts and the sense of family that Prof. Ikpeme has cultivated in this hospital. We are grateful for his leadership and kindness,” a staff expressed.
The hospital management noted that as they celebrate the act of generosity, the institution looks forward to building on the successes of 2024 and continuing its mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services to the people of Cross River State and beyond in 2025.
