The Cross River State Government has restated its regulations on refuse disposal in the state, especially within the Calabar metropolis, warning residents to adhere to the designated disposal hours or face penalties.
According to a release by Ekpenyong Akiba, Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Special Duties, said residents can only dispose refuse between 6:pm and 10:pm daily.
The SA noted that enforcement agents have been recruited and will be stationed at strategic refuse points to ensure compliance.
Similarly, the government has imposed a total ban on refuse scavenging, citing serious security concerns.
Perpetrators are warned to desist forthwith as security agents have been mandated to arrest and prosecute offenders.
