In response to the rising incidence of traffic violations and road obstructions, the Cross River State Police Command has announced immediate enforcement actions aimed at ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.
Recent observations have revealed an alarming trend of motorists picking up and dropping off passengers at traffic lights, alongside rampant hawking that disrupts the smooth flow of traffic, the Command said.
In a press release issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Irene Ugbo, the activities not only violate established traffic laws but also pose significant risks to public safety.
The Police Command urges all motorists and road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, warning that failure to comply will result in apprehension and prosecution of offenders, as relevant authorities work to maintain order on the roads.
The release emphasized the importance of cooperation from the public to facilitate a safe and efficient traffic environment.
“We appeal to all to cooperate for the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of all road users,” part of the statement read.
