Police Rescue Mercury Edu, Hours After Kidnap Alarm Was Raised

The Cross River State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has rescued Faith ‘Mercury’ Edu who was abducted by a notorious kingpin commonly known as “father,” hours after she raised alarm on Facebook that she was kidnapped.

Miss Edu, 25, was abducted on January 21, by Mr. Michael Aboko, a.k.a ‘Father’, who is on the run, and spent a week being brutalized until her rescue by the Anti Kidnapping Squad at about midnight on Tuesday at Edem Street Off Garden Street in Calabar South.

Sources say she was rescued in a frail state and is currently receiving medical attention while the Police is on a manhunt for the culprit.

A graduate of Banking and Finance from the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, Edu had taken to her Facebook page to raise alarm of her kidnapping. She shared a second long video of a wire mesh and called for help, describing where she was kept. She said she was using a device used for registering sim cards to post.

The video has been viewed over 5,400 times as at the time of going to press.

Sources say she had left friends when Father met up with her and threatened her to follow him or he, alongside his colleagues will have their way with her and kill her.

She is said to have followed and was locked up for days where she was brutalized, and injured until her rescue.
