The Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Mr. Peter Undiandeye has commended Cross River Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu for some achievements in the education sector of the State.
A statement signed by his spokesman, Mr. Ikwen Atuaka and issued on Thursday in Obudu, says the Council boss also hailed the Governor for appointing “illustrious Cross Riverians of Obudu origin into different administrative positions in tertiary institutions across the State,” and for the recent conversion of tertiary institutions and the establishment of new ones.

“On behalf of the good, illustrious, and industrious people of Obudu Local Government Area, I convey our gratitude to the Governor for the appointment of Lazarus Undie Esq. as a member of the governing council of the newly re-established College of Agriculture, Obubra and Mrs. Catherine Ajibike as the member representing the northern Senatorial district in the governing council of the University of Cross River State.
“These appointments, which, are with immediate effect, no doubt, are a continuation of His Excellency’s commitment to improving education in our dear State. These include, but not limited to the conversion of the Cross River State College of Education, Akamkpa to the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, the re-establisment of the College of Agriculture, Obubra, efforts to ensure the Federal Polytechnic, Ugep gets a smooth start as well as the accreditation of courses at the various Colleges of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences.
“These developments have far-reaching impacts on the people and the nation at large as they will contribute to addressing the skills gap in critical sectors such as agriculture, education, and healthcare; enhance economic growth and development through entrepreneurship and innovation; Improve the quality of education and healthcare services in the state; reduce unemployment and poverty rates, and position Cross River State as a hub for education, innovation, and economic growth.
“The above, when added with the annual school census which is a crucial step in education planning and policymaking, shows a clear, and unmatched commitment towards the growth and development of the people.”
