The Government of Cross River State has announced that Carnival Calabar routes in the metropolis will be closed on Saturday, April 19th , 2025.
Beginning from 11-11 Roundabout through Calabar Road, Mary Slessor Avenue to Marian Road to Ndidem Usang Iso through Efio-Ette Roundabout, down to MCC-Mobil to be closed to all forms of vehicular movements on the said date from 6:AM-12:PM.
The announcement was contained in a press statement signed by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Erasmus Ekpang, dated 16th April, 2025.
Members of the Public are advised to strictly adhere to the directive and cooperate with security agencies and other stakeholders to guarantee a hitch-free marathon.
The Commissioner said in a statement signed by the Senior State Security Adviser, Major General O. U. Obono (Rtd) explained that the closure is to allow the Cross River State Tourism Bureau seamlessly organize the 2025 Calabar “Marathon for Sweet Prince”, expected to run through the route at the above stipulated date and time.
