The Cross River State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, says her attention has been drawn to a viral post circulating across various social media platforms authored by one Mrs. Joy Wisdom Ikechukwu, alleging wrongful arrest and intimidation of her husband, Mr. Wisdom Ikechukwu.

The Command explained that a formal petition was received on the 4th of April, 2025, from the legal representative of one Mr. Jesam Michael. The petition, titled “Request for Immediate Arrest and Investigation of Wisdom Ikechukwu for Fraud, Criminal Breach of Contract, and Obtaining by False Pretence,” was duly assigned for investigation by the Area Command, Ugep.

The police explanation was contained in a press release issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, stating that the Command considers the viral publication by Mrs. Ikechukwu not only an attempt to interfere with ongoing investigations but also a deliberate act of blackmail aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the Area Commander, ACP Ningi Ibrahim, and by extension, the Nigeria Police Force.

The release added that such actions are seen as attempts to incite public sentiment and obstruct justice.

“In view of this development, and in the interest of transparency, professionalism, and fairness, the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State, CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosanyin, PSC(+), fdc, has ordered the immediate transfer of the casefile and suspect, Mr. Wisdom Ikechukwu, to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Calabar. This is to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation is carried out, and appropriate legal action taken in accordance with the law.”

The Command reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to upholding justice, fairness, and equity for all parties involved.

“We encourage members of the public to remain law-abiding and trust the process, while refraining from acts or statements that could mislead or incite. For further inquiries or clarifications, please contact the Police Public Relations Office.”
