Aggrieved students of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) on Thursday April 3rd, 2025 staged a peaceful protest over the management’s “No Fees, No Exams” policy.
The school management had on resumption from its week’s break issued a short notice for no fees, no examination for students who had a few days to write their exams. The policy has, however, not gone down well with the students.
And in the morning hours of Thursday, students from various departments at the Calabar main campus held peaceful protest to express displeasure
One of the students said “this decision comes just a week before exams were scheduled to begin, following an eight-week period strike.”
The students who gathered at the varsity’s Administrative building from various departments, chanted solidarity songs to make their voices heard.
The protests cause tension within the institution, as students seek a fair resolution to the policy that has disrupted their academic plans. No management official addressed the students neither the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Franca Bassey.
The agitation disrupted as some offices were shut by staff to avert damage from the students as witnessed in previous students protests in the school.
Meanwhile, security operatives were littered to observe the protest.
