Farmers and community members have staged a peaceful protest in Utugbor, Abuana, and Akpakpa communities of Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River, over herdsmen invasion and destruction.
The protesters in their numbers chanted songs in disapproval of herdsmen presence in their communities, demanding an end to grazing on their farmland and threats to their livelihoods.
Dressed in black attires and with leaves, express that: “We can’t die hungry for cows to survive.”
The accused the government at the local and state level of keeping mum on the herders’ invasion.
They however, called on the government to bring a lasting solution to the herders-farmers clashes in the LGA, warning that if not properly handled, it might be a time bomb awaiting explosion.
