RESIGNATION FROM THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC)
My Dear Party Men, and people Of OGOJA LOCAL GOVERNMENT, it is with a heavy heart that i inform you of my decision to resign my membership Of The All Progressives Congress (APC).
I have served as Vice Chairman, Of OGOJA LOCAL GOVERNMENT, A Position Afforded Me By Our Great Party, The APC with all my power, might, finances and emotions. It is regrettable that my supporters and i have perpetually been kept out in the scheme of things.
- To many, Hon. Chris Agbeh, has been the best chairman, the number one man who has the best relationship with his Vice Chairman; a very wrong narrative. That I have chosen to never speak of the ills i endure from Hon. Agbeh, does not mean i have not been suffering them. I have spoken with people i consider close to the Chairman about the ill treatments i have received from him, but the Chairman has always been quick to dismiss my concerns.
- I have attempted to resign as Vice Chairman, on two occasions but the Deputy Governor, held me back. It is unfortunate that i hold an office and cannot exercise its powers because the Chairman wants all to himself.
- The UNHCR in Ogoja, invited me to chair a Committee on the Irrigation Project for the Refugees. I forwarded same to my chairman and after the inauguration and site visitation, i went to my chairman to brief him on it. My chairman who knows that UNHCR being a Humanitarian Commission, is under my Office, lashed out on me in the presence of visitors in his Office. I contacted the Head of Sub Office, UNHCR, and told her to address everything from UNHCR to the chairman going forward.
- The chairman who received funds from the State Government, for the renovation of offices and furnitures, ignored my own office. I have since renovated and furnished my office with my personal funds and the chairman has refused to pay me a kobo for that.
- As Vice Chairman, the chairman has never asked my input in anything that concerns the council; Appointments, Committees, Projects and even the Cosmetic Empowerment he tried to do.
- Not once has he held an EXCO meeting to discuss or deliberate on issues. He has been running a one man show.
- The chairman has refused me access to my official quarters, and i have been living in OQUANGO Hotel since my inauguration at my expense. This can be verified by the Hotel’s management. Not a penny has been paid to me for accommodation, in lieu of my official residence which the chairman called to lash out on me when i asked the occupant of the apartment to vacate.
- Earlier this year, the party leadership told me and I quote “i need you to collapse the PDP in Urban Ward II. I took that assignment seriously and i almost emptied the PDP into the APC in my ward, until i saw that i was left to carry the burden of all that on my own. The defections were intense that the Leader of the PDP Sen. Jarigbe Agom, became worried and was almost counting out Urban Ward II as his stronghold. Sustaining a political structure is very expensive and the leadership of the APC are doing nothing to help in that regard.
- Our people are losing faith in us, the confidence they have in us is on the decline and nothing is being done or said about it. I refuse to be an Ambassador or conveyor of empty promises and political statements.
- In October, before our election, i paid for his CROSIEC forms and till date, Mr. Agbeh has refused to refund the funds i paid after promising to send it back the same day. Even the funds he borrowed from me after our inauguration, he has refused to pay back.
Conclusively, The Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu Led Government, has performed creditably well and in whatever political party I find myself, I will work earnestly to ensure my ward is delivered in his favour.
The list of our issues with the Party is inexhaustible, i will not bore us with too many details. I wish the party well in its endeavors but I will not for my own selfish interest allow my followers to continue to suffer perpetual neglect.
Love,
E-Signed
Emmanuel Idi Yakubu
Hon. Vice Chairman,
Ogoja Local Government Council.
