June 12: Police Bans Protest, Deploy Officers To Strategic Points In Cross River

As Nigerians celebrate the 2025 Democracy Day, the Cross River State Police Command has banned any form of unauthorized procession, protest and gathering across the 18 local Government Areas of the State.

The ban was announced by the Commissioner of Police CP Olusegun E. Omosanyin, in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ugbo Irene, where he stated that the ban is aimed at preventing any act capable of undermining public peace, safety, and the overall spirit of the national celebration.


The CP ordered the strategic deployment of Police personnel across critical points in the state, including but not limited to public spaces, government infrastructures, recreational centers, and identified flashpoints. He said the deployment will feature Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Teams, and Intelligence Units, all working in synergy to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Democracy Day celebration.

CP Olusegun noted that while thie proactive policing effort is designed to safeguard the lives and property of all residents, emphasized that it must be executed professionally and without any abuse of citizens’ rights.

All officers involved in the operations have been charged to exhibit the highest level of decorum, respect for human rights, and adherence to the rule of law.

The police Commissioner appealed to Cross Riverians to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and security conscious and to report any strange movements or suspicious activities within their neighborhoods especially those that could potentially disrupt peace.
