The Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and Senator representing Cross River South District in the 10th National Assembly, Asuquo Ekpenyong Jr has sponsored eight bills out of which one has been assented to and raised seven motions, his midterm scorecard published by his office says.

This places him among the top performing first-term legislators and the Cross River delegation to the 10th National Assembly when lawmaking is the matrix considered.

Senator Ekpenyong’s constituency is the largest in the State in terms of landmass, number of local government areas, and federal constituencies within.

  1. Installation of 6.870 solar-powered streetlights across 156 locations
  2. Construction of 11 roads totaling 16 kilometers
  3. Rehabilitation of 8 roads – Mayne Avenue, Inyang Street, Goldie Street, Ehpraim Street, Hewett Street, Queen Duke Street, Edim Otop Street, and Hall 2 Road in the University of Calabar.
  4. Seven solar-powered boreholes (one in each Local Government Area)
  5. Ongoing construction of a Police station at Odukpani
  6. Three medical outreaches with 4,422 beneficiaries
  7. Provision of five buses for free mass transit covering 19 routes
  8. Provision of scholarship, educational, and instructional materials to 1,700 students
  9. 31 foreign scholarships
  10. Construction of the Nigerian Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA Digital Economy Centers at the Government Secondary School Idang, and the Government Secondary School Ehom in Calabar Municipal and Biase Local Government Areas respectively
  11. Distribution of tools to 1,000 constituents to support small-scale businesses
  12. Distribution of essential food items to 500 constituents
  13. Employment of 28 constituents in the Federal Civil Service
  14. Appointment of 12 constituents at the National Assembly
