A gruesome scene has unfolded along the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar, Cross River State capital, where the decomposing body of an unidentified young man has lain for five days.
The body, CrossRiverWatch gathered that is allegedly a victim of jungle justice, was dumped in front of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Secretariat on the night of Thursday, September 4, 2025.
Insinuations suggest the victim was caught stealing elsewhere and later killed, with his body dumped at the NYSC Secretariat in the night to avoid tracing.
The corpse has begun to decompose, emitting a foul odor and displaying signs of swelling and blisters, possibly from burns.

The putrid smell has made it challenging for commuters, road users, and residents to access the nearby bus stop, with many opting to stay away from the area.
Meanwhile, concerned residents are urging the Ministry of Environment and security agencies to intervene and remove the body, citing health and environmental concerns.
